We assist our clients every step of the process in obtaining appropriate services and related services, accommodations, and modifications for students with disabilities, such as but not limited to learning disabilities, Dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Cognitive, Memory, and Executive Functioning deficits, Speech/Language issues, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Psychological/Psychiatric issues, Behavioral issues, Medical Conditions, and Allergies, to ensure that students receive a free and appropriate public education (“FAPE”) in the least restrictive environment (“LRE”), where they can gain meaningful benefits from their education. This process may include obtaining a Section 504 Plan or an Individualized Education Program (“IEP”) with appropriate goals and objectives, in-class supports, in-class replacement, home instruction, vocational school, services until age twenty-one (21), or an out-of-district placement. We also handle disciplinary issues for special  education and general education students, such as suspension and expulsion hearings as well as transition and placement matters. We also handle some criminal matters that involve students and young adults with disabilities. In addition, we work diligently when there is a violation of a student’s Constitutional rights or a breach in the administration of services by the school district, to obtain appropriate remedies including but not limited to, compensatory education, compensatory damages, reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses, expert fees, attorneys’ fees, and costs.

For many young adults with special needs, it is important to protect them through guardianships and limited guardianships regarding their decisions of daily living, health, property and/or inheritance. We assist clients to determine which form of guardianship will work for their individual needs and guide our clients through the process by drafting the necessary documents, coordinating experts, and handling Court appearances.

Anti-Bullying Law

We represent students who have been the victims of harassment, intimidation, and bullying (“HIB”) and students who have been accused or falsely accused of harassment, intimidation, and bullying. We have been successful in enforcing the New Jersey Anti-Bullying Bill of Rights Statute as well as the New Jersey Law Against Discrimination in cases involving Harassment, Intimidation, Bullying, Retaliation, and Cyberbullying.

Julie has exceptional knowledge in Education Law and she has a passion for helping students who’ve been diagnosed with various disabilities; she successfully helped us with our son who has Asperger’s Syndrome. The school system failed him & she was able to prove that in a Court of Law. We are currently working with Julie on a civil case, and we feel confident that she will present a thorough and well demonstrated case. I would highly recommend her to anyone.

Julie Warshaw is an anomaly; she is an attorney with a heart. An incredible knowledge of special education and rights, for which I hired her, as well as a deep seated desire to better a faulty system for these young impaired students. She is direct and to the point unlike so many attorneys who know little but showboat much. It is without question that I highly recommend this lawyer for her exceptional abilities on so many legal and personal fronts!

Amazing, all I could ask for I hired Julie after talking to a few other lawyer when I was getting divorced. She was incredible through out the whole process, always going above and beyond, with my rights and preferences in mind at all times. She was kind, understanding, patient and very diligent. I could not recommend her more highly.
